The experts have been invited a few dozen volunteers aged 63 to 80 years to participate in research. They were divided into three groups, ie no music education, one year to 9 years of study in music school, 10 and more than 10 years of music education.

The representatives of participants of the "band" started playing musical instruments at the age of 10 years. More than 50 percent of them play the piano, 25 percent play the flute or clarinet. The others with strings, percussion and wind instruments. In addition, all study participants had similar levels of education in general.

The researchers asked the participants to pass a psychological test and multiple intelligences. The results showed that participants who have a complete music education, showed better results compared with those who never learned to play musical instruments.

In addition, nearly 50 percent of educated volunteers keep music playing music during the trial period, but the results turned out better than those who had stopped training them several years earlier.

Thus, researchers have concluded that the duration of learning music is more important than the fact played a musical instrument in old age.
