Ericsson provide and manage the LTE network to fixed-wireless broadband in rural and regional Australia for the National Broadband Network (NBN).
And surrounding rural areas will start this broadband service from mid-2012, until the network equipped by 2015. A $ 1 billion budget is approved by the Australian Government for the national project of high speed broadband network
This project will serve the rural areas of Australia with download speeds up to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of around 1 Mbps, this shows a significant speed improvement compared with existing broadband service.
The decision is in line with the Australian Government's vision to build high-speed broadband network for the entire population and part of the investment of AUD 36 billion (USD 38 billion) for national infrastructure investment.
NBN a new national network will also bring health and education services via broadband. This high speed technology will facilitate the transfer of medical images, remote physician consultations and the provision of remote training for medical personnel.
"NBN Co. will provide the latest 4G technology services in Australia and surrounding rural areas as part of its fixed-wireless services. Fixed-wireless enable us to plan a network for users in certain areas. This gives us greater control on the speed and quality of service, "said Kevin Brown, Acting Chief Executive Officer of NBN, as reported through its official statement on Monday (06/06/2011).
