According to the University Of Southern California Keck School Of Medicine, the body mass in these young women will decline from about 80 percent to 75 percent by the end of puberty, while the child's total body fat increases.

"Some girls might feel awkward if gaining weight more quickly than classmates. But it is not healthy to try to prevent the increase of normal weight at the time of puberty," said Children's Youth and Women's Health Service (CYWHS), as reported by LIVESTRONG on Monday (6 / 6 / 2011).

CYWHS suggest you should still eat a healthy diet that includes lean meats, fish, grains, fruits and vegetables.

Also limit your fast food and junk food, such as cookies, pastries and chips to help prevent weight gain is not needed during puberty.
