SNSD's first album in Japan entitled "Girls' Generation" sold over 230,000 copies in its first week. "Girls' Generation" which was released on June 1, 2011 was also occupied first place in the Oricon weekly charts. With this, SNSD broke the record as a foreign artist in Japan with the most sales in one week.
This is the second time SNSD record sales in the Japanese market. Their first song, "Genie" occupied the Oricon charts in its first week of release. "Genie" record-breaking Russian band tATu after 8 years and 3 months.
Girlband singer "Mr Taxi" it commented, "We are very grateful to all the fans. Of course, occupy the first place Oricon made us all happy because it proves a lot of people who hear our music." Thus was launched Kpop Daily News, Tuesday (06/07/2011).
SNSD who have completed the "1st Japan Arena Tour Concert" in Osaka and Saitama, Japan is currently en route to Paris, France for "SM Town Live World Tour" at Le Zenith de Paris, France.
Throughout the year 2011, the Korean artist who ever occupied the first on the Oricon charts is Tohoshinki, Kara, Jang Geun Suk, BigBang, and FT Island.
