Lotus stop production of Elise and Exige modelsBritish racing car manufacturer, Lotus Cars, plans to discontinue production of its flagship model, Elise and Exige, which is marketed in North America starting next August. It has also been confirmed by a Lotus spokesman Kevin Smith, on Wednesday (8 / 6).

However, the reason for termination of the two models of racing cars is not explained by Smith. Previously, the site of Inside Line reports that the Lotus Exige and Elise are planning to stop this summer. Both models were launched in 2011 in the United States in late 2010.

Exige was relaunched with a form that almost did not change. While Elise was launched in 2011 with new exterior and wheels. For models 2011, Elise is offered in the U.S. in two versions based on sports cars and powered by four-cylinder 1.8-liter 189-hp and 133 pound-feet of torque. While the Elise SC is equipped engine supercharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder that pumps the 218-hp and 156 lb-ft of torque.
