What a fashion challenge! That's what a lot of people think who has a plus size apple shape body. But it doesn't have to be that way. Apple body types have problems that are easy to hide. And they usually have slim legs and arms, great features to highlight and draw attention to.

If you have an apple body type, you gain your weight around your middle. You might also have a full bustline, a wide back and even wide shoulders. Your arms, legs, hips and behind could all be tight and slim. Apples have upper bodies larger than the lower half.

So how does an apple body type shop? Start at the top. Buy shirts and tees that draw the eye upward. Look for tops that have designs along the shoulder and neckline. Look for neckline bows and buttons. Buy sleeveless tops which will draw attention to your slim arms. Buy long shirts that stop at the widest part of your hips to help balance your body out.

The right pants also can be used to create a more balanced look. Wide legged pants will work by balancing your larger upper body with your smaller lower body. Do you have slim ankles along with your slim legs? Draw attention to those ankles with wide-legged capris.

Wide A-line skirts and A-line broomstick skirts work well also. If you wear them where your natural waistline is, the fullness of the skirt will hide your heavier midsection. Just make sure that the skirt fits properly and it doesn't pull over your middle.

Last but not least are your shoes. Balance your upper body with a heavier shoe. Or emphasize your slim legs and ankles with a strap sandal.
